We set up Wantok Photography with a purpose of showcasing the beauty of our natural world to inspire and help conserve it. We have pledged to direct profits to support organisations working in nature conservation and while we haven’t made enough revenues to cover our costs so far, we still want to make sure we do our share.
We therefore decided to donate all of our recent international awards prize money as well as profits from some recent prints and calendars sales, along with some of our own funds, to support gorilla and wildlife conservation in Uganda, via Conservation through Public Health Uganda.
The difficult current context of the Covid-19 pandemic places extra strains on gorillas. Not just linked to the risk of virus transmission to primates, but also due to increased risk of poaching as local communities’ revenues have fallen dramatically as a result of the suspension of tourism activities. We therefore trust our contribution will be put to good use.
Thank you all for your support!
