Welcome to the Jungle

Borneo, Malaysia

Photo Gallery

Borneo is the world’s third largest island (after Greenland and New Guinea) and roughly twice the size of Germany. Forty years ago about 75% of it was covered by rainforest, but today this figure is less than 50%. This has been primarily a result of human activity such as logging -with half of the world’s timber coming from the island- and agriculture. Nonetheless, the rainforest in Borneo, pictured here, is one of the oldest in the world and is estimated to be about 130 million years old. That’s something worth protecting, isn’t it?
