Neck and Neck

Murchison Falls National Park, Lolim, Uganda

Photo Gallery

We were lucky to find two giraffes necking on top of the hill during an early morning game drive. The sun was rising in the background and the light gave for some great silhouette shots. I took tens of pics and I am sharing a few of them, hope you like them.

Necking among young adult males is a form of wrestling, and a test of strength – each trying to wrestle the other off balance to mark dominance, which plays in a group’s hierarchy. It is of varying strength and intensity and makes for an exceptionally beautiful choreography.
